Default trip deposit

What is the proper amount to leave as a deposit for a nine day cruise? Booking through my travel agent is 450.OO per person. RCCl 250.00 per person. Is there a standard deposit? thanks Dee

I would ask the TA why they want so much more than RCI requires as a deposit. We have always paid the cruiselines required deposit.

The necessary deposit normally depends on the lenght of the cruise. 7 day cruisees usually require a $250/person deposit.

I am surprised when you say RCI only requires a $250 deposit for the 9 day sailing that you're looking at. IF that's the case, the TA deposit should be the same!

Be sure your deposit is going directly to RCI, and not the agents own account. If that's their standard practice.. FIND A NEW AGENT!

i would ask your TA why she is charging you almost double what the cruise line requires for a deposit. Pay it by charge card, make sure that your TA pays the cruise line directly, do not pay the travel agency(horror stories of payments no being made to the cruise line etc)

She's not charging you double. In RCCI'S brochure and on their website it clearly states that the deposit for a "9 night or longer" cruise is $450 per person. 6-8 nights are $250 per person.
