I think I would like to purchase insurance, but I have seen so many different options. Is there a reason not to buy the insurance offered through RCCL?
Thanks, Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,
In most cases by purchasing insurance through a travel insurance company, you can get better coverage for less money. Here are a few to check out, just make sure you find the right coverage for you:

Access America

CSA Travel Protection

Travel Guard

We have used CSA and Travel Guard. CSA paid our claim in a timely manner with no problems. You can go to and see all the many different companies and what they offer. Many people recommend NOT purchasing your insurance thru the cruise line and buy it 3rd party. Never leave home without it.

Hi Cheryl,

Like Donna said, you can often get insurance for much less than the cruise lines charge. Also, in the very unlikely event that the line goes out of business, you'll still be covered!

We've always used Travel Guard, but I'm sure the others would be okay, too.

As CA said, never leave home without it LOL !

One of the reasons for taking out cruise line insurance is that in many cases it will be more cost effective if you are older. However ALWAYS price compare.

Cruise lines are as concerned about protecting themselves as they are at protecting you.

The suggestions on companies and websites that were mentioned in the previous posts are very good.

Take care,

its usually cheaper to do it on your own. is very useful and helpful.
Just have the insurance- make sure you get trip cancellation/interuption and medical evacuation coverages those are the two that will cost you the most if you DON'T have it.
