I have read on the Government site, that passports will not be required for travel to Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, etc. Until after 12/31/2006. My travel agent said we could use Birth Certificates for our cruise on 2/18/2006. Now I get an e-mail from the travel agency that we must have a passport for this cruise or we cannot board. Can anyone tell me what is the real answer? HELP! Denny
I thught too they postponed the requirement, but I still think its a good idea to travel with a passport and you still have time. Since eventually, they will be required, I'd just get them and not have to worry.
It's good for ten years, it's accepted as identification and travel documentation worldwide. It allows you travel wherever you want, whenever you want, without having to worry. It's worth the fee and the processing.
Belize does require you to have a passport if you are going to be there longer than 24 hours, as does Panama. Don't miss the ship if you don't have it.
The final answer will come from the cruise line. You will have to give them a call. Either call them yourself or make sure your agent calls them to make sure her information is correct. The cruise line is the entity that will let you on the ship.
Take care and get the passport.
