I saw a newspaper story on CruiseCompete.com, a Web site that helps you find the best pricing on cruises. They say they can save travelers hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars off the retail price of a typical cruise. I don't know much about cruising, but I visited the site and it seems legit. My family is considering a cruise vacation in 2006. Anybody out there used CruiseCompete.com before? Do you really save that much? Is it better to book through an online agent versus a regular travel agent - advantages, disadvantages? Please help?!?
I have used cruisecompete several times. I like the idea of you responding only to those quotes you want to and of not having agents contact you. I do believe they have saved some money the times I have used them. Maybe hundreds, but I don't thousands. My most recent use was a couple of months ago when I booked on the Liberty for Feb. '06. Have never had any problems. Just read all quotes thouroughly and ask a lot of questions if you do contact a quote. ie: any charge by them if you cancel the cruise. some charge an additional $75.00 they call administrative fees if you cancel. Make sure price includes all fees and taxes. Stuff like this. Again I have used them 3or 4 times and have never had any problem. But I always ask a lot of questions. Good luck and hope you enjoy your cruise. There is never a bad one. Denny
have used cruisecompete.com several times. rec'd some excellent quotes and took them. have used the 2nd or 3rd lowest quotes on occassion because i wasn't too sure about the the company giving the best quote. i am a veteran of many cruises and find this website a great help in finding good prices.
