where does the drinking water come from?
My DW and i have just entered into an interesting conversation that the rest of the CM community may be able to help answer.

Where does the drinking water on board come from?

I say that there are de-salinizers that process and filter the ocean water to make it potable.

The DW says that they have holding tanks (like in an RV) that they fill from water hydrants at each port they visit.

any answers are greatly appreciated!

All drinking water does come from the desalination units on board the ship. Most ships do have fresh water holding tanks that can be filled in ports but that is not potable water for drinking purposes and can be used for washing down the decks and other maintenance purposes. On board a cruise ship all water that comes out of a faucet that a passenger uses comes from desalinated water.

BTW: The water in the toilets is salt water. Don't ask how I know.

Take care,
Mike (An engineer told me.)

I've been hanging around my dog too long. We're starting to act alike.

An engineer on Ocean Princess actually told me when I had dinner with him. Remember it. I've had it come in trivia games. :!:

Take care,
