Default drinking water on the ships

I have read where the water on the ship comes from the ocean and is basically filtered. Is this true? Also, is it safe to drink the water on the ships, ice included????

yes, the drinking water comes from the ocean. Cruise ships have state-of-the-art filtration and de-salinazation plants on board. The drinking water is very good, better than some bottled water that you purchase. Same goes for the ice. We drink the water on board all the time.

you are welcome.
What we do is before we embark we go to the store usually buy a 6-pack of the sportsbottle size water at the grocery store, once that is gone, we refill from the tap and put it in the cabin fridge.

I bought a couple of wide mouthed water bottles. and they hook on our fanny packs too. So then when we r going off ship on a excursion we fill with ice and water. All set for the excursion. Great for around the pool too. Actually i got the water bottles for fifty cents a piece. Cant go wrong. If I need the space coming home they can be thrown away. without guilt of wasting the money. The bottled water cost plenty. the ship water tastes great too. happy cruising.......

There is nothing wrong with water on ship thats for sure.

However bartenders and busboys are trained to advise passengers to avoid tap water and improve sales of bottled water on ship.
Infact I know that on some ships busboys recieve bonuses for selling bottled water.
