Default New passport-question

I just received my renewed passport. My picture has squiggly lines through it. You can certainly tell it's me, but it looks weird. Is this the new way they are making them now?

Also, I heard that when traveling to certain countries, your passport has to have at least 6 months validity. This doesn't apply to cruises, does it? I really hope not. I am leaving in a month from Miami on Norwegian Jewel, going to the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Roatan, and Jamaica.

Yes mine has those quigley lines. The new passports have electronic data embedded in them. Your complete profile is there. That is the reasons for the lines on the new ones.

In addition those little lines help make faking a passport nearly impossible now.

Don't worry - your renewed passport has 6 months validity ... it actually has 10 years!

the six-month rule applies to when your passport is to expire. Many countries will not accept a passport that is going to expire within 6 months. You are all set.
