Hi, I have gotten mixed information about passport requirements. My cruise includes Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Belize. The cruiseline has told me that I will not need a passport but the US government web site says that travel to Belize and Grand Cayman requires a passport. Is there special allowances for cruiseline visitors? Do you know if I will need a passport?
While a passport is required for travel to Belize there is an exemption for cruiseship passengers. Understand that while I do not believe it is going to happen, this could change at any time the Government of Belize wishes! Passports will be required after Dec 31st of 2006 anyway so why not just go ahead and get them and save any hassle or worry.
Thank you Jim! I actually had a passport but I had to get a new one because I got married and changed my name. I was just worried because I might not get it in time for the trip but I won't worry anymore.
Actually you do not need a new passport when you get married. You simply send it in with the marriage certificate (raised seal) and it is amended on the inside back cover. There was no charge when my wife did this in 2001. Instructions and the form:
