Default Cunard QM2

Hi, Does anyone have any update info on QM2. The Cruisemates review was when it first began and the reader reviews the last one was back in the fall of last year. It seems most complants were about the staff and personal- I would hate to spend that much money on a cruise{a four day is costing more than I could get a 14day on another cruise line} and have a bad experence. Any info you can give would be appricated.

Thanks
GS

One of the propulsion pods hit a channel reef and did damage out of
Florida.

The passengers are upset after it was decided to sail with the one
pod shut down.
They have missed three ports and wanting full refunds and are doing a
mutiny of not getting off in Rio. Those getting off in Rio are being
given a 50% refund of the cruise for the ports missed.
Guess the cruise line thought the speed was not that greatly reduced. It
was reduced and ports missed.

It is on the 38 day cruise and planned docking in LA Feb. 22.

Here is a link to the story CNN has.

Yes, it's time to revisit the QM 2 and update the review. So many ships, etc. I understand the service problems have been ironed out and things are pretty stable.

QM 2 is really a two-class vessel, however. The quality of food you get depends on which cabin and which dining room you're assigned to. A travel agent just informed me he ate in the main dining room (lowest category) and it was very good.

Cunard just announced a full refund for those guests who missed 3 ports on their way to Rio. While I guess while I should say KUDOS to Cunard for really coming through, I commiserate with the business people who have to run this business.

I know, everyone thinks "they're a big company, they can afford it." I don't think that way. I think people work hard, and to have to do it for nothing is not fair to the people who run these companies.

I think this sets a bad precedent for cruise lines -- giving away the whole store. Stand some ground, a 50% refund was way more than most cruise lines would have given.

Paul, they are giving full refunds to those on the first segment; I agree that this is a very bad precendence. However, what are they giving to the full 36 day trip passengers? Are they getting refund equivalent to 100% of first segment cost?

thanks,
