Hello - we are planning a cruise in the summer on the Star Princess.
The ports include Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, St. Petersburg and Poland. My question - can you use Euro Dollars or US Dollars in these ports. Recently we cruised to Istanbul and coverted our money to Lires - this was totally unnecessary. I have Euros left over from another trip and would like to use them on the upcoming cruise. Thanks for your help.
I havent been to Poland, so can't say for sure, but all of your other ports, with the exception of St. Petersburg, you can use Euros.
St Petersburg, if you're with a guide, have the guide exchange some US dollars for rubles if you need to make small purchases...like camera fees for the museums. But only get what you need, as they're pretty much useless anywhere else.
Sweden, Denmark will accept Euros but still have their native currency. Norway is still on the Kroner but will probably accept Euros. Polish currency is the Zloty and they may accept Euros but you will receive change back in Zloty.
The best thing is to obtain small amounts of money in the native currency and use your credit card for any large purchases.
