Default Want to change sailing date but didn't buy insurance.

I didn't buy insurance when I booked the cruise, can I change my sailing date to sooner than it is scheduled? I have so far deposit only $500 so haven't paid in full yet. Will I lose the partial payment? I booked using a popular cruise broker.

Hi myfeeji,

It shouldn't be a problem if you aren't past the final payment date. Just ask your contact person (or TA) where you booked to cancel your first booking and transfer your deposit to your new one.

The only problem might be that the new cruise requires a different deposit amount or, depending on how much earlier you want to sail, you may have to make final payment now (your deposit will go toward that).

Have a wonderful cruise!

[/b]Its also possible you will have to pay a higher cruise fare, so be sure to check with the travel agent and see if its possible

You are right Donna, I have to pay a much higher rate. I am looking at Memorial Day weekend (May 28) on Mariner of Sea leaving from Port Canaveral. Any idea where I can get a better rate? It is better if I wait until the last minute, hoping someone will cancel and a good rate comes up because the RCI wants to fill the empty space? What is my chance of that happening? I don't care much about the cabin location, just a good rate.

Hi myfeeji,

I just looked at the rates for your cruise and they do seem very high to me! Hopefully, your TA was able to quote you lower rates.

Since it's a holiday sailing, they will probably fill up quickly and not offer discounted rates. While it could happen, I wouldn't count on any last minute deals.

You might try the CruiseCompete (under Bargain Finder) feature on the Home Page here at CM's to see if you can find a better rate.

Good luck!

Hi My,
I wouldn't wait too long, you may want some choice of cabin, since that time is a popular time to cruise, just keep checking prices and hopefully there will be some that cancel and open up cabins, but you don't want to count on that.

Carnival or wait? I am left with Carnival Glory sailing out of Port Canaveral on May 21-28 2006, for a lesser price but reading recent experience from passenger who called a Disaster and had to get off the ship in Belize to get the heck out of there, I am scared to book on Carnvial. Has any of you experience with Carnival Glory recently? Do you recommend it? How will it compare to RCI Mariner of Seas? We like more quiet, subdued, relaxed atmosphere, & good food & port for good beach & snorkeling.

I wouldn't wait too long. I'm sure the rates are higher because it is a holiday week. We recently (2-5-06) sailed on Mariner and we loved it.
