Default Bahamas - December water temps

My husband and I want to cruise to the Bahamas. The second week of December works great for our schedules but I'm concerned the water will be too chilly to enjoy. We love to swimming and snorkeling and it would be a big part of our trip. Have any of you been in the surf off of Grand Bahama (or other islands in the chain) in December? Was it uncomfortable? Thanks for your help!

The waters will be chilly then. I waded in the water at Atlantis (Nassau) in Feb and I wouldnt go in any further. Even the pool were ice cold since they were not heated. Now if youre from way up north and used to swimming in Lake Superior it will be warm for you! You can probably do an average water temp search for the Bahamas to get a better idea.

Alison,
Thanks for the information. I'm a southern gal. We may change our travel month or try for a cruise going further south. There is a lot of technical water temp data out there but no substitute for firsthand (or leg) experience.
Thanks!

We normally cruise in January and the water temperature is not bad but if the air temperature is chilly the water will feel cold. Last Jan. we rented a jet ski in Nassau and after a minute in the water it was fine.

Regards,
Thomas
