Our family has the excitement of Cat 11 mini suite this cruise which means Skippers Club cruise out of Tampa.
Someone in another post mentioned "silver" VIP tags for luggage, is this true??
We sailed last cruise Skippers club, and had the regular color tagsidentifying by deck and location color.
The only time I ever heard of VIP was those needing early disembarking due to early flight times.
Can someone explain VIP?

If you have skippers club - it will be listed on your cruise documents and not on your luggage tags. Just tell someone when you enter the pier and you will be directed past the long line of people waiting to a separate check in area. If you have a child, they will be given a welcome present. This is the main benefit that you will receive. It appears as though the suites are debarked after the early flight/excursion folks - so while not a stated benefit - there some seem to be some preferential treatment.
We did the skippers club this last cruise and I will always get a suite for all future cruises now - avoiding the initial wait helped set a great tone for our vacation kick off.
Carnival currently uses two sets of VIP Luggage tags. The silver ones you mention are actually Platinum, and used for those who have sailed with Carnival 10 or more times. The other VIP luggages tags are white, and are used for the Exclusive Carnival Vaction Club Members. I dont belive the skippers club gets VIP Luggage tags. Platinum and Vacation Club Members are debarked right after the self assist, and then the early flight and suite guest.
Actually, Platinum is first off. They do not announce Platinum departure, I was just informed in person on when and were to be. You meet at the Purser's desk and they escort you off all the way through customs before they begin calling for any others to disembark. There were only four Platinum guests on my cruise last weekend, so it isn't like hundreds of people are getting off before you.

Jodi,
I too am platinum but my documents don't say that. This is my 10th cruise with Carnival and I have nothing really that says that as far as my docs are concerned. Should I just find someone and tell them to direct me to the Skippers Club??
Thanks,
Darlene
Yes, just head straight for the VIP Lounge and tell them you are Platinum. Make sure, however that CCL has you indicated as Platinum - that they show all of your cruises. They were missing one of mine, so I didn't actually make Platinum until my 11th cruise. And I have read other posts where CCL is not showing all of the sailings.
At some point during the cruise., inquire about the priority disembarkation. We were told to meet at a certian place in the lobby at 8am, then escorted off the ship as soon as customs cleared it.
Jodi
