First i would like to thank everyone for these message boards I've learned alot and ya'll have really made me look forward to going on my first cruise
Ok here we go, I just found out that my parents are buying me and my soon to be wife a cruise for our honeymoon. We sail on July 16th out of galveston, TX. We sail on the Carnival Conquest, and have a balcony room at the very rear of the empress deck (th one with the wrap around balcony).
We are thinking of scheduleing stingray city in the caymans, white water rafting in montego bay, and honestly we have no idea what to do in Cozumel.... We wanted to go see the mayan ruins but she wants to shop and such and we were afraid that we may not have time for both.
This being the first time either of us have ever been on a cruise I was wondering what kind of expenses i should be looking for on ship that i havent heard about already. The folks are taking care of the auto tip, ive heard about the fees for cokes and specialty dining, and of course the expensive alcohol (which unfourtunatly we will more than likely be partaking in great quantities of my Fiancee just turned 21) am i missing anything?
Any suggestions, tips on saveing money, shore excursion advice, or just general comments on what we should do before and during the cruise would be much appriciated. Also if any of you are going to be on that cruise wed love to meet some couples to do some of this stuff with!
Thankyou for your help in advance and Happy cruiseing to all!
Welcome, welcome, and congratulations!
Aside from the alcohol, soft drinks, and tipping, your expenses will be your shore excursions, any photos that you might purchase, any salon services, the casino, any items you might buy in the ships stores, some specialty gym classess, and if you use room service- tips for room service is not included in the auto-tip.
You will need cash for the porters at the pier to handle your luggage, cab fare, small souveniors you may purchase on the islands, a bite to eat on the islands. Rentals of snorkel gear, lounges, water toys.
You have made good choices on Grand Caymen and Jamaica, as for Cozumel - do you like to snorkel? If so Cozumel has some amazing snorkeling, there are some beautiful beaches also. The Mayan Ruins tour will take up just about all of your day.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and cruise. What great parents you have! And welcome to Cruisemates! Below is a link to some great articles on first time cruising written by our very own, Kuki. I think you may find some answers there.
