Default 3% charge for cashing traveller's cheques on HAL?

This is what someone posted. I emailed HAL and asked if this was the case and they replied that it is not true but there is a 3% charge for cash advances. this gentleman seemed very sure that he was charged for cashing traveller's cheques at the desk but not in the casino.
Anybody know if this is true?

Sorry, can't help you specifically with HAL, but I have used and cashed travelers checks on other cruiselines and there has never been a charge for it. They may have been thinking about cash advances on credit cards?

i would go with your response directly from HAL.
I have never paid a service charge to cash travelers cheques at the Purser's desk. Its in the casinos that they charge a service charge.

I just returned from the HAL Statendam and there was no charge for cashing a travelers check at the Front Office. I gave them a $100 travelers and they gave me $100 cash. It was one of the few travelers checks I cashed on the trip.

There is a 3% charge for receiving cash from your onboard account from the Front Desk or from the casino.

Take care,
Mike
