It all depends on the type of person you are. Read the reviews - they are mixed on both cruises (or in the case of the Jewel, the cruise line.) MSC is trying to adapt to the American market in the winter, but are in reality a European cruise line and sometimes are hit and miss. As for NCL - well, what you see is what you get....freestyle dining (and I think that this type of dining is more work than I personally want on a cruise - trying to decide when and where, making reservations, more surcharge restaurants, optional formal nights) that I think personally would drive me crazy.

MSC is new to the market and has lower fares but smaller staterooms and more of a European audience.

I personally enjoy NCL and the Freestyle concept but if you are a hard and fast traditional cruiser you will need to adapt to it.

I suggest going to Anne's reviews and taking a look. Make sure to click on the ship reviews on the right side of the page.

I personally wouldn't go on MSC unless I did a balcony.

Here is a link to Anne's reviews of MSC:

Thanks Lisa and Mike.

I've been looking anywhere I can find about the MSC cruise and with what I've seen so far I think we would enjoy it.

I've actually found a pretty good price and it has 5 ports we've never been to.

Once reason for looking at both of these is due to the ports. They both go to San Juan and arrive at good times (not evening but early afternoon) and this is one place we want to see.

So far the only cruises have been with Princess and we have used anytime dining, it would be a change on the Lirica.

Hopefully a few more people will answer me.
