Drink Coupons ? Bar Credit ?

Carnival sells drink coupons (4 for $19.50) - Is this a good purchase if you are going to drink martinis? Can you use them on your next cruise if you don't use them all? Please tell me what these coupons are good for and if it is a great purchase before you go. Thank You!

It depends upon the server that you get. I was with friends who purchased a bunch of drink coupons before they cruised. The coupons have price limits printed on them, so some drinks take two. Some servers would request two, some just one for the more expensive drinks like martinis. I have done the math, and for what I drink (beer and liquor), they aren't a money saving perk, but you don't have to sign the ticket with them. I think in the end they probably average out to what you would pay without them for many people (except for me - cheaper not to buy them).

I agree it depends on the ship, server and which bar you try to use them in. I would suspect the Martini/Wine bars on some of the newer ships would ask for two per martini, but you can never tell as there isn't consistency in this area.
