Why are seven day cruises out of Seattle so much more expensive than cruises of the same length that leave from Florida. Is it that there is more competition in Florida; the port fees are cheaper, or some other reason? Will the prices of the cruises out of Seattle eventually drop and be more or less the same price as cruises out of Florida?
Alaska is a limited season and the cruise ships can only be there for a short time period. Also they usually have to pass through the Panama Canal to get to the Pacific for a three to four month season. Also port charges are higher for many American based ports like the ones in Alaska. Supply and demand! There are still bargains to be had, but the best are if you arfe available to go at the very beginning or end of the summer season!
Yes, Alaska cruises have always been expensive, along with the excursions and the airfare. I'd still like to go again, I felt the cost was well worth it. The cruise I took was round trip out of Vancouver and I would do that again too, even spending a little more and getting directly to Vancouver and spending some time there.
