Our ship FOS, arrives in Miami at 7 a.m. If we were to book a flight home at 1:30 from FLL...is that enough time? It will be on a Sunday...December 24th. Thanks and hurry...Southwest just released their dates!
I got off the ship around 9:30 was home to WPB by 10:30 or so FLL is about 15-20 min away from the miami port so it shouldn't be a problem. Especially on a sunday.

Oh boy i am not sure of that one traveling on Christmas Eve day, the terminal will be jammed with people,it will take longer than usual to get thru customs, the highways will have heavy traffic, on a good day i plan an hour highway time door to door from Miami terminal to FLL airport.
The ship docks at 7am - figure it to take an hour for the ship to clear customs before they start calling for disembarkation, if you get first call you could be off the ship by 8:30 at the earliest, you must then claim your bags, grab your transportation- figure an hour - that puts you into your cab at 9:30- if all goes well you should be pulling into FLL airport 10:00-10:30 then you have to clear customs, this is where you will eat up a huge chunk of time. With the new travel restrictions they are saying get to the airport 2 hours before your flight time.
On a non-holiday day i would say you could make it no problem, but on a holiday especially Christmas i think you are asking for trouble.
Oh crap...I already booked it. I thought you cleared customs at the dock, not at the airport. Am I wrong about that? I never travel Christmas time. I made an assumption that with Christmas Eve being on a Sunday, that people would have gone to their destination on Friday or Saturday to have the whole weekend with family. HELP!
You clear customs from the ship at the dock, but that is a separate issue from airport customs. For the ship, they are looking for items you might have gotten in a port that you shouldn't have. Airport customs has to do with screening passengers for items that could be used as weapons or explosives on the plane. So, you are dealing with both.
However, you may still be okay. If you can't change your arrangements, talk to the pursers' desk once you get on board the ship and explain your time concerns to them. They may be able to help expedite your debarkation so that you have more time. Hope it all works out. Scratch that...it will all work out!

We were late docking in Miami on our last cruise. There was a cargo ship in the way at the pier. Lots of folk were sweating bullets trying to make their flights. We were held up about 2 hrs waiting to dock. STuff happens...hopefully not on your trip. Good luck.
Well my first experience with Southwest has been positive. Seems you can reticket with no charge at all (I called to beg and there was no need). So, now we are on the 5:20 home. If you all tell me that is not enough time, I will probably faint!
I would guess that the 5:20 will not be a problem. I think it is a good thing that you changed...now you won't have the stress of worrying if you'll make it or not.
