Default Alaska

My husband and I want to take a cruise to Alaska, and wondering if anyone has any input on which cruise line would be the best. We also are looking to do the land tour before as well. We normally cruise RCCL, however my TA suggested Princess, she said they are the best for Alaska.

Hi Auggiemom,

We haven't "done" Alaska yet, but from what I've read on the boards your TA is correct. Princess seems to be the best choice for Alaska!

Have a wonderful cruise, whatever line you choose!

We have sailed to Alaska many times and think Princess offers a good(but not excellent) product to Alaska.
If you want an even slower paced crusie or even more senior citizens, Holland America would be a good choice.
We just got back from Alaska in July on Princess and had a good cruise vacation.

We booked the Holland - Volendam for a June 2007 cruise.

By your post , do you mean that a majority of passengers are senior citizens on Holland ships ??? And also, slower paced ??????

Without a doubt....Holland carries more seniors than any other of the major lines to Alaska. Thats not a bad thing...just the demographics of who seems to sail them.

We booked through a local TA, and after checking the "roster of 54 people" the youngest in our group is 38 and the oldest is 74.

The 74 year old was with us on our Hawaiian cruise last June, and she
can probably out do and out go the 38 year old. She was very full of get- up- and- go. One of the first up in the mornings and one of the last to hit to bed.
