On the arrival of our luggage, I notice that one of the suitcases was damage beyond repairs; the frame was busted along with a hole in the back of the suitcase that measures 5X6, when I proceeded to check the contents of the luggage I discovered more damage was made beyond repairs to my comb blow dryer and a lighted mirror.
We went to the purser’s desk and they ask us to bring the items, we did so and he told us, that a letter will be send to our stateroom but the letter didn’t included the blow dryer or the mirror.
On the letter request’s the luggage to be send for repairs and if is beyond repairs to have the repair shop make an estimated value of the luggage in writing.
The estimated amount for the losses is about $350.00 dlls. And my question is, should I go ahead and proceed with this? I don’t even know if there is such of thing as to luggage repair shops? And what about the other items?
Has anyone ever gotten reimbursed for anything from a Cruise Lines?
I'd go ahead with that and see if you get any results, if not you can always make a claim with the travel insurance company as long as you took out some. If not, another good reason to do that in the furure, that alone would cover more than the cost and then some of coverage. Best of luck getting your luggage repaired or replaced, keep us posted.
Most any specialty luggage store will do repair work, or they work with someone who does. It shouldn't be difficult to find one, and get written estimates of repair or if necessary replacement.
