Default Jury Duty, will my cruise insurance cover it?

Just got called to Jury Duty while I am supposed to be on a European Cruise. Will my cruise insurance cover me, since I don't see how I can get out of it? Will insurance cover the $500 Norweign credit card points, flight, port charges, taxs, etc? Does anyone have any advise? Thanks

Normally you can get you jury duty postponed to a different time since you possibly will lose your money for your cruise.

One of the other posters checked at their court house and presented them with her cruise payment documents and they postponed her jury duty date.

Check at the court house and maybe you can be postponed also?????

Just show them you have a fully paid for cruise and there are no refunds. I sure would not let it cancel my cruise !

One of my cruisemates once got called for jury duty during a cruise. She just took her documents with her and she got rescheduled. It is a reasonable request to be dismissed and rescheduled and you won't recieve a hard time.

Here in Arizona, you can get jury duty postponed one time without even having to explain why you can't serve. When our state's citizens get a jury summons, there is a form that you have to fill out and send back, and on there is a space to request a one-time postponement...but mind you, once and only once... I've had to do this a couple of times due to vacations.

French Polynesia on Renaissance, August 2000
Alaska on RCI, August 2001
Hawaii on Norwegian, July 2003
Caribbean on Holland America, November 2003
Mexico on Norwegian, January 2005

Thanks for all the advise. My insurance company (Global Alert) got back to me and said I was covered. But I hate to miss my cruise, so I will take my ticket to the court house and see about getting out of it. My partner and neigbors seem to think I will have no trouble. Thanks again. John

John - depending upon where you live, all you might have to do is to fill out the form that came with your summons, and not make a trip to the courthouse. Where i live you can postpone your jury service for up to 1 year with no questions asked.
