Default Cheaper port excursions

I had such useful responses to a previous question that I thought I would try another.

I know from experience that Americans are quite savvy when it comes to getting good value for their dollar so perhaps you can give some advice on booking excursions at different Caribbean/European ports of call. I think that cruise companies tend to charge far too much for their excursions and I know that some of you more experienced cruisers book excursions in advance with local companies and either get a lower price or a better tour for their money.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable agency that might help me in this respect?

Many thanks

if you could please give us some specifics as to what ports of call you are interested in and what you are interested in doing then we can make some specific suggestions.

On Thu Nov 30 I will be in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic from 8:00am to 5:00pm. I want to see the island. What is there? Who offers what.

Also I will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico Tuesday Nov. 28 from 5:00pm to midnight. We don't drink what is availalbe?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Don

Id suggest you go to a book store and get a guide book to get an idea of what there is to do in the ports of call.

Im partial to Lonely Planet tour books as they are completely unbiased as they accept no money from anyplace mentioned in their books.

Once you know what you want to do many times you can just get off and hire a taxi for the day. That way the money goes to the folks on the island and not some tour company.

Just my $0.02.
