Default San Juan transfers

Glad to say we just booked Crown Princess out of San Juan, but did not book transfers yet. Please advise of your experience and price using taxis or other methods. Thanks for your help!!!

Have used taxi's a few times from the airport to the pier. Very easy to do, plenty of taxi's.

Once you claim all your luggage, go to the taxi stand downstairs, inside and get your ticket. Then take all your luggage and go outside to the taxi line, they will get you a cab and you'll be off to the pier. Trip is about half an hour, may-be less if traffic is light and costs 20-25 dollars, depending on how much luggage you have and then of course a tip.

its really a matter of convenience and price. Price out what a ships transfer would cost and compare. The downside of the ships transfer is that you have to wait a bit for the bus to fill up. Its a good idea to use the ships transfers if you are traveling in a group, keeps you all together.

In Jan 2003, after a great week aboard Celebrity's Constellation, I took a shore excursion to the El Yunque tropical rainforest national park, just a short drive out of town. When we were done, we were dropped off at the airport, where our luggage was waiting for us. As I recall, they charged 30 bucks-- just ten more than it would have been for a straight transfer to the airport!

Of course, this was only possible because my flight left at four or five in the afternoon. If you also have the time, see what's available in a last-day tour; it might be only slightly more than a transfer. But in any case, seek the advice of the locals as to what can be managed. In recent years, I've heard more than one horror story about ungodly multi-hour security check-in delays at the San Juan airport, particularly on Sunday afternoons, when cruise ships are dumping thousands of extra passengers into the mix.

The taxis charge $18 or $19 per taxi, and then about 50cents per bag. It is a regulated industry, so all charge the same. The taxis are lined up outside of the baggage claim area, and there is a line (to your left) where you go and then are assigned a cab. The person there will also fill out a slip as to the price you are going to pay.

This is VERY easy to do, and you don't have to wait for a bus to fill up like you do when you use ship's transfers.

Enjoy your cruise. We did the same itinerary on the Serenade of the Seas and are repeating it again in April. . . it is fabulous!

As far as I remember, you don't have to pay for the transfers if you are taking the tour. It is included in the price. Your luggage should travel with you till your tour ends at the airport.
