Default ship size vs seasickness

Our first cruise was to Alaska in mid-September aboard the huge Diamond Princess. It is new and is supposed to possess the best in stabilizers, etc. We had an inside cabin at a lower level, yet many passengers and many crew became seasick in the 12-15' waves we encountered.

We plan to cruise to Alaska again this September, and are considering the much smaller HAL Ryndam. Are we going to be more suseptible to seasickness on this smaller, and older ship? Any comments on this ship?

Any advice or opinion is appreciated. Thanks

There probably won't be much difference. They Ryndam has stabilizers, as do most modern day ships.

You probably won't have to worry though.... I've rarely experienced rough seas in Alaska, so your cruise was not the norm for that area.

12' - 15' waves are not normal for an Inside Passage cruise. The Ryndam may be smaller but the "S" class ships are quite stable and also have stabilizers.

If you are worried about seasickness: Stick to the lower decks and the center of the ship.

I doubt you will have too much of a problem.

Take care,
Mike
