Default Hawaii Cruise - comparing Princess.Holland America and RCL

could I get some opinions about these lines (wanted to sail with Celebrity but they don't seem to be offering much in winter, 2008.).We are interested in RT from west coast for about 14 - 15 days. Also can
anyone tell me about the Spas - the Spa on the Summit was
heavenly and I would like similiar again. Thanks

Both Spa operations are run by Steiner's (but the facilites are nothing like Celebrity's) so the services will be similar. Overall I would choose Princess because of their food. They have Anytime Dining options and IMO a beter, overall quality of food. However if you are looking for a more laid back cruise with excellent ships and better service I would go with Holland America. Both lines have great ports stops and shore excursion programs.

Either way you won't make a bad choice.

Sorry, I can't give you a hands down winner, just a personal opinion.

Now if your choices had been Carnival or NCL vs. Princess or HAL, I could have given you a clearer opinion.

Take care,
Mike

Just another point of view but having sailed on all the mentioned cruise lines, my choice is/was to forgo the cruise line and go for the time in Hawaii and chose NCL American. It was a very pleasant cruise but the extra time in Hawaii was priceless. Whatever you chose have a great time! Cheers

I have taken a 10 night cruise on RCI from Ensenada, Mexico to four of the islands. It was a wonderful cruise. Yes, you can just fly to Hawaii and cruise around the islands, but I love sea days.

We took HAL's 15 day RT San Diego to Hawaii in 2005 and are booked again in April 2008--same trip. I noticed that HAL is adding new shore excursions to all the ports for 2008. Also, in 2005, they didn't stop in Kauai, which they WILL do in 2008.
We love HAL for the quiet and affordable elegance, fewer passengers and children. The spa was very nice for the sea days too.
We are just spoiled with the quality of food and service that HAL provides. We aren't doddering senior citizens either!

I totally agree that HAL would be my first choice. Did it once, would love to do it again. Lots of sea days doing RT from San Diego, and HAL does a better job at providing fun and interesting things to do. But, that's just us.
