seasick meds?

just wondering....someone listed them on their packing list. is that a neccesity? carnival's site says they are free for the asking. is that true or should i pack some?

I always take some. Carnival tends to only give out just enough for a day and I get seasick on the tenders and even on bus tours. I would rather have too much than too little. And, I can return the ones I buy when we get home, if we don't use them.

i am guessing you are talking about either Dramimine or Bonnie. It is a good idea to bring them if you are prone to motion sickness when you fly, or ride.

We were on the Jubliee to Hawaii a few years ago and my Dad and his wife were very seasick. They did take the Dramimine, except it wouldn't stay down. I bought them the wrist bands from the ships store and they worked wonderful. They were able to leave thier cabin to eat dinner after a whole day just laying in bed. I just saw these wrist bands in Target for about $8.00. They are well worth it. All they do is put a small amount of pressure on the inner wrist. They look like a wrist sweat band. There is no medication in them at all.

You might also want to bring some ginger along. I've been fortunate in not getting seasick but have carried this on the last couple of cruises. Gave some to a tablemate of mine and it fixed her right up ... she was just at the beginnings of stomach upset.

Just an FYI. walmart has the generic bonine - $10 for 100 pills. This is what I am getting for my mom this cruise. Carla ;)

And, you need to take the med's before stomach upset hits. Usually, feeling dizzy/light headed will come first. Or, even take as preventative.

Thanks so much for the suggestion on where to buy them and when to take them!!!!! I can't believe how much I've learned from everyone...and am still learning. Wish I had found you all long ago, before booking....would have given me more time to learn/plan. Thanks one and all, can't tell you how appreciative I am for all your help!! :D
