phone cards for Mexico, Belize

I have a cell phone that may or may not work in Grand Cayman with Sprint. But in Cozumel, Costa Maya and Belize what is the cheapest way to call home? A pre paid phone card? Any recomendations, I've also heard in some ports certain pay phones are a rip off. Please let me know how to phone home from these ports, thanks.

Belize can be a real problem. Tried to use a cell phone there and all I could get was a message asking if I wanted to sign up for their service. I'm not sure how you could get around that, as all their phones are run by the same company. Cheaper would be ship internet.

In Belize just get off the tender and hang a left. Go to terminal number four and there are a couple of shops in there that sell phone cards for use in Belize. You can return to the yender area and there is a bar/restaurant there called the Wet Lizard and they have a pay phone there.

You are very welcome! Anytime! We were in Belize and booked our tour independently. We needed to take the water taxi from Belize City to Caye Caulker which leaves about every hour or hour and a half. Well there was a delay with the tenders and we missed the water taxi and were not going to meet our tour operator at the agreed upon time, so we called them and let them know we would not be there on time and made alternate arrangements. It was very simple! Luckily English is their official language so just follow the instructions and you won't have any problems
