Default Advantages/Disadvantages to making 2 reservations?

Hello,
Can anyone please tell me if there would be advantages or disadvantages to making two reservations for different cruises which take place the same week. I cannot make up my mind between two cruises, and I believe both are offered at pretty good rates right now. I figure I can always cancel one of the reservations with a travel agency before the pay in full date and receive a full refund, correct? That way I could lock in a good rate and have some time to think about which one I'd really like to go on. Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions?

Your help is very much appreciated!!! Thank you.

If you can afford the deposits, then I say go for it. Just make sure there is no cancellation fee imposed by the TA (if you use one.)

Yes, make sure there are no fees to cancel with the travel agent. If you do that, keep in mind also, it may take a few billing cycles for the cruiseline to credit you back the amount of a deposit.

I think the best thing to do is decide before you make a deposit and just stick with that.

What cruises are you considering?

Hi there,
Thank you both for your replies. Well, I ended up booking a cruise (yes, just 1!) and so there is no need to make reservations on more than one. This will be my first cruise, and I was very overwhelmed and intimidated by all of the cruise line options, destinations, cabin types, etc.

I booked the Carnival Destiny cruise on the Southern Caribbean departing in December from San Juan mainly because it visits 6 ports in 7 days and they all look great!

Thanks again for both of your answers. I appreciate your expertise.

Me, too. The southern Caribbean has all of my favorites!
Have fun....I'm sure you will.
