Can someone please tell me which airport would be the closest to the cruise port in San Juan, Puerto Rico? I believe it's Luiz Munoz Marin Intl' (SJU), but I've seen a few other options out there so I thought I'd ask.
Also, does anyone have an idea of what the cheapest airport might be to fly into in San Juan? I'm planning on flying from San Diego, CA to San Juan on December 14th, and flying from San Juan to either San Francisco, Oakland, or San Jose, CA on December 23rd.
I see flights into and out of SJU right now for $425 RT with those cities, but I have no idea whether or not that's a good fare or whether the cost will drop in between now and December.
Ok, hopefully someone can give us some insight on this. We have booked the January 26th Summit cruise, sailing from San Juan. It leaves at 11pm. Our flight arrives from Miami, by way of Columbus, at 5:30pm. Is this cutting it too close or should I try and book a flight for the previous day? What time do ships that leave at 11pm allow you to board? Any advice from someone who has done this would be helpful.
I would suggest flying in the day befor, you dont want to start your cruise in bed at 9 oclock.By coming in the day befor you will not have to worry about missing your connections and maybe the cruise.
There are a lot of good hotels in the san juan area,we stay at the holiday inn in isle verdi which is about ten minutes from the airport and a short walk to the beach. Then you can have a good nights rest then go to the ship and REALLY enjoy the cruise. And you are about twenty minutes from the port.
Across the street from the Holiday inn is the Embassy suites which has an Outback steak house.
I flew from SFO to SJU, took all day and I was beat when I arrived. If you can change it I would fly in a day or two before so you can rest. Puerto Rico is a great place to visit you should think about spending some time checking it out before you sail.
