Default Clothes for NY boarding Jan. for Caribbean

We are to board in New York City in January for a cruise to the Caribbean. How many winter clothes have other people taken along on this type cruise? It will undoubtably be cold in NYC and possibly for a short time at sea.

I'm wondering how much space to allow for heavy clothes and how much space for summer wear when we reach the Caribbean.

I would dress for the cold for the first day and a half, "maybe." What you wear at the begining, just wear at the end, for your return. And remember, it will only be to the ship, and back. Keep the bulk of the room for cruise clothes, and have a ball!

Thanks Trip. One and a half to two days worth of warm clothes have been recommended. I appreciate your reply and the answers I get on this board.

think layers- for boarding i would wear jeans/cords, shirt with a sweater or sweatshirt over it, sneakers, maybe a hat and gloves, after all you will most likely just be going from cab to terminal with minimal time outside. For those first at sea days i would recommend fleece active wear for outside on deck, comfy and warm, for the rest of your cruise think summer wear.

Lisa, Thanks for the input. I'll probably wear a winter coat unless
our weather is unseasonably warm in January. The fleece
wear is a good idea and we will be taking summer clothes.
