Default Open dates to leave. How do I get the best rate?

Hello. I am looking to cruise solo from Los Angeles to Mexico soon and am looking for a place I can find rates. I have about a 5 week window I could travel in, Mid June to 3rd week in July. So when I leave is flexible.

Hopefully there is a site or way I can give my available date window to the cruise line and have them book me when they need to fill an open spot. Everywhere I have looked, wants me to specify the exact date and I was hoping for a deal since I have the flexibility on dates.

The only thing I would specify is that I would want to be near mid ship (the motion towards the bow and stern get to me) and not next to the elevators. Inside, outside, etc does not matter.

I do not want to wait until the last minute to book since it looks like the last minute deals are all on cabins at the ends of the ship or next to the elevators. I rather get my information in now and have them place me on a date that works for them.

I was looking at probably going on Royal Caribbean. They have two ships on the 7 day Mexico cruise.

Any ideas on where I can go to work this out? Thanks for your ideas.

YOu'd need to use a good T/A, but also have a date to book. You can always book a guarantee and get the best available cabin in a certain catagory, but you'd still need a date picked out.

You can also do some preliminary research with the web travel agents, such as those on this site. Used to be travel agents would be happy to look up multiple dates, not so much anymore. But, if you look up prices by date and ship and/or cruise line, you will know what to ask for and expect. And, be aware that June and July are usually high season. Kids are out of school, families travel, so not as many real deals. Good luck!
