Default locking luggage

Should we be locking our luggage both getting and getting off the cruise?

I only pack shoes and clothes, but do not want to lose any of them especially dress clothes.

I know the airlines will not let you but what about cruises???

thanks

We always have locked ours but now since the airlines won't let you "lock" them, we use small colored cable ties and have a pair of clippers in the front pocket. We can tell if the TSA go in our bags because they use plain white cable ties.

Keep in mind that if you fly oveseas they do not accept TSA locks. Also, we have had problems with the TSA accepting TSA locks. We have had two broken into.

I don't anyone locks their luggage anymore. Qwik-ties are OK, though, The TSA can just clip them off. In our case though, there were no white ties, just the smashed lock thrown in the suitcase.

Sorry maybe I did not ask my question clearly. We always drive to Fla for our cruises. I know the airlines will not let you lock luggage but do you lock them when boarding the cruise ships?? What are the regulations on the ships?

thanks

You can lock your luggage if you wish. If there is anything that looks questionable you will be called to come down and open your luggage. If there is anything they think looks "dangerous" than they will cut the locks off and open the case.

My advice is to not bother and put the cable ties on the luggage and a nail clipper in a non-sealed outer pocket.

Take care,
Mike
