Default US Passport Renewal Turnaround Time

Just wanted to report that it took only one week for me to receive my passport renewal by mail. I mailed the application on Friday July 11, the passport was received on Friday July 18 and beat my old cancelled passport back to me by a day. My passport card is still to arrive, but I understand there are delays in processing.

This is a quantum leap in turn around time compared to the horror stories in the recent past.

By the way, don't obsess over the picture you submit, the digitized picture they put in your passport puts wavy lines all over your picture.

Not bad at all, I thought when mine took less than 2 weeks, that was good. Way to go!

Doug, the goverment outsourced the process to India I think. The printed information is bound in the US again by a for profit company. Strange what happens when the for profit thing is part of the process not goverment workers. Mike
