taking meds in your carry on

Can anyone tell me if a person has an inhaler (for astma) can they carry the inhaler in the carry on baggage on the airplane? I don't want to check it affraid it will be stolen. Only need to use it once a day.

Evie: That and all of your prescription medications should be packed in your carry on. You don't want to lose your meds in the event your luggage decides to go to Dubai and you go to Fort Lauderdale.

You may have to take the inhaler out of your carry on and place it in a plastic baggie to go through screening.

On my last several trips medical items were permitted with no restriction as to size or quantity. They did not have to go inside your one quart bag. Even contact cleaning and saline solutions were considered medical.

When the liquids ban was enacted I was required to present my contact cleaning solutions at a separate station because the bottles are over 3oz. TSA would then provide a slip of paper saying you can carry a bottle larger than 3oz. (and run with scissors and stare at the sun).

never pack your meds, always have them in your carry-on. You should have no problem, it might be a good idea to stick your inhaler in the box with the script on it if you have it.

I took all my prescription meds and a few necessary OTC ones in my carryon bag. I also had the pharmacist print out an extra label to affix to my inhalers and sprays so I would not have to take the boxes they came in.

You can get your pharmacist to print extra labels for all meds you are taking and affix them to a sheet of paper to tuck in your documents as well, in case you need them.

I have always travelled with my inhaler in my purse or carry-on, not even in a baggie, and nobody's ever said anything. You shouldn't have a problem, Bon Voyage!
