Default which port?

I am trying to decide between a cruise that stops in St Lucia or one that stops in Dominica. What are those ports like?

We've only visited Dominica (so far) and it was a lovely visit. We did the island tour and had a blast.

I'm hoping to visit St. Lucia someday soon.

by all means, st. lucia. it is a beautiful island with much to see. dominica is ok, i suppose, but i've been there twice: the falls and the emerald pool (much ballyhooed) are highly overrated imho. the ariel tram is nice, but expensive. the town itself leaves MUCH to be desired. i love st. lucia, and have been there three times. but, again, just my humble opinion. have a great cruise whichever port you choose. it is, after all, a cruise!!!!

I would do St. Lucia. It's beautifulthere. They have a wonderful island tour. Now we usually go & spend the day at Sandals Resort. That's a lot of fun.
Enjoy which ever you decide on.

We will be stopping in St. Lucia in Feb-our 5th. visit. Love the place! A visit to Sandals sounds interesting. How do you book this-through Sandals or just take a cab there? And what is the cost for using their facilities. Thanks for any info!

It was an option on our cruise as one of the excursions. Check to see if it's offered. If it's not, I think they had people signing up right at the pier. I don't remember what we paid, but it wasn't bad. All you can eat & drink, they had activities going. I even won a bottle of rum for a dance contest.

I vote for St Lucia, even though I have yet to visit...Dominica is basically an eco tourism island.. great for those interested in this type of excursion. No shopping to speak of at all, I was there once, but would stay onboard if it was on my itinerary again.

If you do decide to visit Dominica we did a river tubing excursion thru the ship (Carnival) that was among the best excursions I have ever experienced.

The shopping in Dominica is mostly flea market style. But, lots of local crafts, which I like. I don't travel to see or buy stuff I can find at home. St. Lucia is upscale. I went to Eudovic's studio the last time I was there. He is a famous wood carver and I still regret not splurging on one piece I loved. They will ship it home for you, too.
