Default African Cruises?

I have heard of cruise lines doing tours along the African coast and the Nile and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good cruise line to work for that tours Africa?

Specifically around east africa as I would love to see safari harboring countries such as kenya, tanzania etc

This probably also has been answered before but are there any jobs that are more desirable and are less likely to keep you working while the ship is docked?

I am a US citizen, have worked in hospitality for awhile but never on a cruise boat so am pretty clueless as to much of the cruise industry

thanks for the help

Hope this doesn't break any posting rules. Try Holland America Grand Voyages. The cruises are pretty long, but the itineraries look interesting. For Nile cruises, search vtg escorted tours.

Thanks BorntoCruise! Do you know if its possible to apply to a ship going on a specific voyage rather than just applying to the whole company?

I appreciate the help

Sorry, but I don't know anything about getting a job with the cruiselines. I live in the desert so there are no ship positions posted around here. Check their websites or give them a call directly and they'll tell you what you need to do. Maybe post a new topic and title it something about shipboard jobs, and folks will be able to help. There are some really knowledgable people that read these boards.

What little I know comes from friends who work for cruise lines. The cruise lines decide what ship and itinerary you work on. And they can, and do, move people around, for whatever reasons they have. You really won't have any control over where you go.
But, still, check with the companies or other employees. You never know.
