i read that some have been 'expelled' from this site; and i read also that 'ar', whose posts i enjoyed immensely, has left. i never thought he was anything but informed and serious, and loved his messages. i wondered where he was. it seems that some who are more serious, less 'folksy', more interested in issues and willing to criticize things are somehow banished from this site. i can see criteria like obscenity or just downright ugliness being enforced; but outside of that, what is the criterion for banishment? and who sets these standards? and is anyone
ever warned? and just what are the mechanics of this?
We do have a Terms of Posting on the Cruisemates message boards...As long as you stay within the guide lines, you can contunue to post, after many warnings, you may get banned from posting....Just be considerate and while you can disagree, we don't let things get personal..
donna, your reply is vague and subjective, but that is to be expected, i suppose. but, thanks anyway. after all, this is a private, not public, forum and cm has financial interests in this whole thing. that's ok.
hombre: in all the years I have been posting, very very few get "banished". usually, the mods will remove offending posts before removing offending posters....
the key is to NOT get "Personal" when disagreeing on a subject... everyone has their own point of view, but when the disagreement becomes a personal attack that is when the mods take notice.
I don't believe AR was banished, I think he decided to leave on his own.

Political threads, are usually the ones that can get emotional, and provocative, and will be removed, once they get to a certain point. No one really posts religeous threads, that would be removed as well, because this is not the correct forum for such a diverse subject.
Mean spirited posts, personal attacks, and anything of this nature will be removed. Emails are sent out numerous times to advise the poster of the infraction. Only when things don't improve, and the poster continues on the course that got them the letters in the first place, are they then are banned. It's never a surprise to the banned poster.
Over the course of our history, very few posters have been banned, which says something about the Cruisemates family wanting this to be a place of good spirit, and Ar left on his own accord.
