Cozumel beaches near downtown, bars, shopping, etc

What's your reccomendation for a Cozumel beach near shopping, bars and restaurants. My girlfriend wants to shop, hit the bars. I want to snorkle, sun bathe. So we need a beach that close to other things. I would like one with lockers, showers, decent restrooms, nice sand, snokling equiptment, food, drinks, beach chairs. Also are there any beaches that we will not be harrased by venders trying to sell us stuff every 5 minutes?

You'll actually need to take a short cab ride, depends on which pier you are docked at. The newer one is right by downtown, the other needs a cab to get to the shopping. I'd suggest going to Chankanaab Park for a few hours, snorkel, sun bath, etc. and then get a cab into town.

You're not likely to find really good beaches right near downtown. Chakanaab is a great place to go. Lockers, decent facilities, no pushy vendors, at least that I can remember, and beautiful water. Keep in mind, though, that the island of Cozumel has very little natural beach. it is very rocky...actually old coral. Only places like Chakanaab that have created beach areas have anything like good sandy spots.

All of the above are correct. Chak is your best best.

The pier is unknown due to other ships schedules and availability and other variables.

The Capers the night before will tell you which pier you will dock at.

There is a chance the shopping expert person would know in advance so maybe ask him/her when you get onboard.

I use a company (a husban/wife team actually) that prints maps of the whole Mex Riviera. These maps are fantastic and have lots of info on everything like places to eat and all the beaches and amenities.
