Transportation from Heathrow to Southampton

What are the choices for transportion to and from Heathrow to Southampton, we are cruising on the Grand Pincess 7/18/09....

The most convenient is to use the cruise line transfers but my experience with them is if you're over 6' tall it isn't a comfortable ride. There was insufficient legroom for me to sit straight in the seat. I'm 6'2" and rode side saddle for two hours.

If you have a carry-on that is larger than a purse you will have to stow it in the luggage area under the passenger compartment. The overhead bins are very small and there is very little room under the seat.

A private car will run you around 150 - 175 pounds. There are also shuttle, coach and train services available. Here is a link to a decent site that gives you an idea of the options you have.

We are soon going from Southampton to Heathrow, thanks Mike for the link!

We have thought about using NCLs transfer to the airport but that means that we have to leave the ship early and we prefer to leave among the last! Our plane doesn´t leave Heathrow until 4.40 so we are in no hurry to get there. We are flying in Club Europe (British Airways businessclass) so we can spend time in their lounge but it´s better to stay on the ship as long as possible!

We used the transfer services of SilverFleet last year from Paddington Hilton to Harwich and return. They offer hotel pick up service which made it convenient for us, we didn't have to taxi to another place first with all our luggage. There were 6 in a van going then 8 in a larger van on the return. We were comfomfortable, they were timely and we had no complaints. We have contracted them again for our 1 way from the Heathrow Hilton to Southhampton this November. It was 98 pds for the 2 of us.
