Generally on a crusie line shore excursion the cruise line will have a visa that covers all on that particular shore trip. The cruise line will generally hold your US issued passport while your are ashore. When on the shore tour you will have to stay with the tour and you will not be permitted to "stray off" on your own. Unless someone has changed the rules in the last 90 days, you will not have to have a visa for either of the two countries you mentioned. NOW--if you want to go somewhere in those countries on you own, you will need a visa for each of those countries. Take a look at the rules and requiremnts for those countries on the US State Department web site. If you decide to get a visa don't wait until the last minute as processing cost go higher and higher for a short time turn around on issueing as one may have to go through a private service.I just went to Brazil and the cost was very high. Good luck and enjoy your trip to both of those countries.

As I stated, earlier, NCL obtained the "Quick Trip" visa for Egypt that allows you to do a ship's excursion or go out on your own. This is NCL's standard procedure for stops in Alexandria. All passports are returned the day before you arrive in Alexandria.
If for some reason you do need to obtain an Egyptian visa, the cost will be $15. It can be obtained at an airport but I am not sure if it is available at the port. You would need to use a visa service or send the request to the Egyptian embassy or consulate for your area.
The OP should contact the cruise line they are sailing to find out if the cruise line will supply the "Quick Trip" visa.
Take care,
Mike
