Default Forms of ID

I heard you have to have your passport name on your drivers licence to cruise and get off at various ports. If your passport says James and your DL says Jim, is this a problem? Do you really even need anything but your passport?

I suspect what you may be refering to is the TSA/DHS enforcement.

I've heard that they are now requiring the name listed as the air traveler match exactly the name on the ID used.

It seems that when you book a flight now you must give the complete name as it appears on the ID that will be used or they could hassle/deny you boarding.

There was a switch from this being a TSA/DHS vs airline enforced thing.

There are some issues with this rule and there is likely to be some wiggle room or changes made at some point.

Unless they are being particularly fussy at the port, the discrepencies with a name like Jim vs James would not be of much concern to a port agent.

Its the airline I would double check with.

The name on all documents including (air & cruise) must match the name that is on your passport or you could be denied boarding.

My passport contains my middle initial but my cruise doc's have just first and last name.

Do you see this as a problem?
