Default Passport difficulties

My wife and I are about to go on our first cruise. We both applied for our passports like a month ago, requesting expedited service. She applied a week or two before me, but mine has come and hers hasn't. She was born abroad, which we think is holding things up. But now they have her birth certificate too, so we can't even check her in. I think if we at least had that back, we could get on the ship, even if we couldn't get off on the islands. We've been calling the passport center every day for a week and a half, but they have been unhelpful and mean. Is there anything else we can do? We're leaving Thursday (on Royal Caribbean, if that matters).

The only advice I can give is to keep contacting the passport office and ask to speak to a supervisor and get an exact status of the passport.

They know the status of passport and can tell you if there is a problem or not. If it is your wife's passport she may need to be the one to speak to the official. Just don't stop calling until you get an answer and a time that it will be delivered.

Take care,
Mike

Well, we found out today that the application is at our regional passport office, and it's "being printed", which is progress. My wife is going to go down there tomorrow and see if she can just pick it up, and if not, if she can at least make sure that they are going to overnight it tomorrow.

IF You are going to the Passport Office bring your cruise tickets and whatever else for proof of the date you are leaving.. There maybe an extra fee for expedieting..

Well, we checked the status of the passport this morning and it said they were mailing it, and it would arrive "on or around" Thursday, which is the day of our cruise.

So, we were a little nervous, but then...IT CAME TODAY!

WE'RE GOIN' ON A CRUISE!
