Default Pre-cruise hotel

My TA recommended coming to Ft.Lauderdale a day before the cruise leaves from that location . My wife and I are the only 2 people to have been born and raised in NYC who have yet to set foot in Florida .Can anyone recommend a hotel in the vicinity of the cruise port ?

I advocate using Priceline. Bid 4* in the Downtown Fort Lauderdale zone.

If you bid around $75 (you may want to start at $50) you will probably get The Renaissance or Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

Both of these are very good hotels, close to the port, restaurants and easy cab ride from the airport.

Give it a try.

I was able to book the Renaissance Hotel on A1A, , right by the port in October, for $59.00, with Pricleline. GREAT price...Look at Biddingfortravel.com to get some perspectives on what other people bid and won, on Priceline. Others in the area are Pier 66, Embassy Suites, Hyatt Place, all in the port area..Also, Southport a neat shopping area, has restaurants, shops, and a Publix Market for last minute items...

Listen, I just happened to find the Rodeway Inn & Suites off of i-95. They cost me $75/night on Priceline. Wonderful!! free shuttle to & from airport and cruise port!!! free breakfast and free wifi.

This is the first time I have recommended them but they are my new favorite. Right at the intersection of the 95 and 54.

I am not sure how to get the airport to hotel shuttle, here is the web site: Port Everglades Cruise Port Hotel - Rodeway Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale, Cruise Port Hotel Free Shuttle Service Port Everglades
2440 West State Road 84 , Fort Lauderdale, FL, US, 33312 | Phone: (954) 792-8181 Fax: (954) 792-4202 Toll-Free: (877) 792-8181

If you want much posher surroundings with a great view of the port, etc, go to:

Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina
www.fortlauderdalemarinahotel.com

1881 Southeast 17th Street
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316-3015
(954) 463-4000

This is about $159/night but they have an excellent view of the pier where you can watch the ships go in and out all day long. Get a balcony room with a southern exposure.

Looking at the map, it seems quite a distance from the port area, & A1A. The good thing is, for many, the shuttle service. Did you find it a distance away, or am I reading the map wrong, which is a possibility For many, the port area has so much to offer, and an easy/cheap cab to the port.

there are a lot of hotels to choose from, personally i like to stay on or around 17th street, , close to the airport, close to the pier, Publix market, shops and restaurants within walking distance, we stayed at the Embassy Suites and could watch the cruise ships docking which was kinda cool. The Holiday Inn Express is nice, AmeriSuites, and the Marriott Marina Hotel- not sure if it is still a Marriott

Linda - I am not sure if you are addressing that to me or the person who suggested Renaissance.

I think you need to zoom out - it is really right next to the airport, which you know is right by the port - plus all the shuttles are free anyway.

We had a LOT of cruisers staying there who said they love it.
