Default Flying into FLL rather than MIA

Hi guys!

My DH and I are booked on NCL Jewel in March, and it is $200 pp cheaper for us to fly into FLL rather than MIA. Would NCL still provide transfers for us? Or would there be a shuttle we could engage? I am assuming that taxi fare for that distance would be exorbitant!

Thanks so much!!

For a $200 p.p. savings it is worth it. A taxi is around $70 per car. A limo is around $100.

There are shuttle services that go between FLL and the port of Miami. I do not know them right off the top of my head but I'm sure others do.

Take care,
Mike

This company is reliable, and ,the least expensive around....we used them in October..we did it all online...use your cell phone as the contact number, not your home number..http://www.ridesas.com/

Trip:
What was the name of the shuttle company? I don't see it in your post.

Take care,
Mike

the others are spot on about using the shuttle service, not to mention that Ft. Lauderdale airport is so much less of a hassle than Miami

we flew into fl instead of mia and rented a car for next to nothing, drove down to mia dropped the car and the car rental took us to the port for free. picked us up and did the revese when we came back.

Default Don't forget about the cruiseline!

Years ago, I took a Carnival cruise out of Miami, but flew into and out of Ft Laud, mostly for the same reason-- cheaper airfares! The bus transfer provided by the cruiseline was just 15 bucks each way-- hard to beat! Call NCL and see what arrangements they offer. As for the rental car idea in the previous post, I've done that, too-- and if you're flying in a day ahead of time just to be on the safe side, you're probably gonna want a rent-a-car anyhow, so why not? Many agencies don't charge any extra drop-off fee to rent at Ft Laud airport and turn it in to Miami.

I know that $15.00 transfer is much higher now. The thing about transfers is, you are on a bus, that must wait til it fills before it can leave, and its crowded, with people and baggage...for that same $15.00, in the link I mentioned above.. you can be picked up and be in a smaller bus, with less people, and be more comfy.

I agree completely with Trip's recommendation of SAS. They are fantastic and are extremely organized and I will definitely use them over a rental or a cab. The problem with a car rental in the MIA area is the closest car rental drop off I know of is Enterprise at the Radisson on Biscayne BLVD and then you will still need a cab ride to get you to the port from there. If you drop the car off at the MIA airport then you will have to take a shuttle or cab to the port when for about the same price (perhaps less by the time you've topped the tank off with gas etc...) you can be picked up and dropped off point to point by SAS. I love rental cars when we're in Florida, but in this situation I like SAS much better.

If you're flying in a day ahead then I'd likely just stay at one of FLL's airport hotels and then have SAS take you to the port the next day. Easy peasy
