Non-excursion things to do...

My husband and I are taking a cruise from New Orleans on the Carnival Triumph on April 3rd. We are going to Key West, Florida, Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, and Nassau, Bahamas. I'm not really a big fan of the planned excursions, and am trying to find if there are some really interesting things to do in these places, or can't miss sights! We are both in our mid 20's. Thanks for your input!!! :)

Key West is one of the most enjoyable port for just walking around. There are great bars, the Hemingway Museum, Truman's Little White House and much more.

I can't help too much in the Bahamas because the only thing I've done is the Dolphin Swim in Nassau. I did that on my own and greatly enjoyed it. Otherwise it was just some shopping at the straw market and a trip to Atlantis Hotel/Casino and did a bit of gambling and enjoyed the aquarium.

Take care,
Mike

Not much at the dock at Freeport. Just a few vendors and one bar. Take a cab over to Port Lucaya where you will find waterfront bars, shops, casino, and a beach. Be sure to cab share. Cost is about $30 each way but breaks down to $5/6 pp when you have a van full of pax. There is a taxi stand where people gather for the return.

In Nassau, head on over to Paradise Island/Atlantis and take the tour, very interesting and fun seeng the property. You can do a ship tour or take one, once you get there, its easy to get the water taxi over and back.

In Key West, you can take the Conch Train, and tour the island, or rent a litle electric 2 seater and run around the island by yourself. Visit southernmost point, where you will be just 90 miles form Cuba,

See Mel Fishers Treasure Museum, and faint when you see all the gold and emeralds...believe it or not Key West does not have great beaches, so you can save that for Nassau. Do a pub crawl, snorkle, rent a skiddo, or moped. Visit the winery, or visit the Butterfly & Nature Conservatory..Lots to do in this fun port.
