Question ?s RE: Cruising MX Riviera in late Feb.

What can we realistically expect w/re: to weather and water temps at ports from San Diego down and around the Baja Peninsula in late Feb? We have cruised the caribbean in late Feb. to March many times and know that most of the time it's easily warm enough to be out on deck in a swimsuit & we're usually able to swim in comfort. The ocean is always warm enough to swim in as well. We not only like to view the water, but like to be IN it! Unless it's a dive, wetsuits are not something we prefer to have to wear when we swim.

Also, while we loved spending 3 days in Puerto Vallarta in early July a few yrs. back, the ocean water was not at all inviting. In fact, it appeared to be a brownish color. It seemed like it might be very contaminated, although perhaps it wasn't at all (?). What can we expect w/regard to the water around La Paz and Mazatlan? I assume Cabos' water is somewhat more clear but have heard it is sometimes so "stirred up" and rough that it's not condusive for snorkeling or swimming.

I'd truly appreciate an "expert" opinion regarding these issues.

Thanks!

My wife and I did a 10 day, Mexican Riviera cruise, last February. The temperature in San Diego was a bit cool but once we got to Cabo it was hot 85+. We had great weather the whole time and the water in Cabo and Ixtapa was warm and quite clear. These were the only two ports where we went swimming, snorkeling. The snorkeling was not as good as some areas of the Caribbean, such as Columbia reef, but it was better than places like Trunk Bay.

If there are storms in the area then the water will be more cloudy but that's a chance you'll have to take.

I hope you have a great cruise. If you haven't done the Mexican Riviera I suggest you do. The ports can be quite fun. We did parasailing in Cabo, zip lines in Puerto Vallarta and enjoyed shopping and just touring Acapulco and Mazatlan.

Take care,
Mike
