Default Passport Needed?

Does a person need a passport for Alaska cruises that sail in and out of Seattle?

No:

If the cruise departs and returns to Seattle you will not need a passport. You will need a government issued birth certificate and a government issued photo ID (drivers license).

I do advise you to get a passport. If you have to leave the ship in Canada you will need it to get home. It's also the best travel investment you can make.

Take care,
Mike

Thank you. I will get the passport. Better safe than sorry. I will be bringing my 13 year old son with me. Best to get a passport for him, also, I assume.

Look at it this way. Your passport is good for ten years; you may take more cruises or travel international. When you factor in the price to get your passport, and it is good for ten years; it's pretty cheap.

yes, get the passport for you and anyone else who is traveling with you. A passport is the most widely accepted form of identification, just makes sense, and makes things simpler, easier and smoother

So how do you all carry your passports? I've never had one before. Sure wouldn't want to lose it.

Carefully! I have had a passport for 53 years and have never lost one.

Once you board your ship, lock your passport in you cabin safe. Some people like to make a copy of it and carry when in ports, not a bad idea, but don't carry it with you, keep it safe.
