My husband and I will be cruising on HAL's Noordam on Feb. 6th. My In-law's took care of all the booking, and it was our understanding that they booked all our cabins (believe 10 in all) together, so we didn't really have a say in where we wanted our cabin to be. They booked us an inside guarantee - and we just got our cabin assignment and we are really not happy. At the time that they booked things were a bit tight for us - plus the fairs were higher than we were used to -, so we took what they offered, but now things are better and he said I should look into upgrading our room. My question is, should I call for pricing now, or wait and hope there is something available at the pier and upgrade then (perhaps for a better price)? We usually book the cabin we want, or at least the category (usually ov or balcony), but weren't left with many options at the time.
Thanks for any suggestions. We've just never been in a situation like this before.
Good chance there will be no "better" cabins by the time you arrive at the pier...I'd call right away, and hopefully you can upgrade and not have to pay too much, best of luck and let us know if you are able to get a cabin more to your liking.
I have found that when you get on board they think you are desperate & charge more, also any cabins are probably sold off before then, thats how the friends & family of the cruise line get the deals they do.
Well, I did call yesterday....and it's sold out. But, they did put me on the waiting list for an upgrade, so we will just keep our fingers crossed. And, I will never let someone else handle my reservation for me!
