Default Boarding procedures / porters at Port Everglades?

Ahoy! Just wondering about the actual boarding process at port everglades. When the taxi drops you off .. then what?

Is it like when you land at the airport at an all-inclusive ... porters hounding you to take your bags literally just "across the street" to board the bus? Or can you lug your own bags 20 feet to some drop-off point?

What gives, please? Thank mates! (hic!)

As Trip said, there will be porters (they're longshoremen) to take your checked bags. They won't hound you because you're expected to give them your checked bags. They do expect a tip and we usually give them $5.00 for two big bags (we really want to see them in our cabin, not in the water ). Other's tip $2.00/bag.

Keep your carry on bag with all your important stuff (papers, passport, meds, etc.) with you.

It will take a while for your checked bags to make it to your cabin, so you might want to pack a swimsuit or a change of clothes in your carry on bag.

If you're planning on carrying on your 2 smallish bags filled with booze and wine - DON'T! Those bags go through an x-ray machine and they will confiscate the booze (maybe not the wine).

depending on which cruise line you are sailing; u drop your bags off and the porters put them in the carts for your ship; if you already have luggage tags with your cabin number, u are good to go; if not; the porters will put a luggage tag on your bag with your cabin and ship. I sailed in Jan and tipped a couple of bucks; it is up to you; my bags made it onboard fine; some people think the more you tip the quicker your bag makes it to your room. All bags stay on the carts until they are loaded onto your ship; once onboard they are broken down by deck; when they get to your deck; the cabin stewards put them in the different cabins.

One more thing about booze; Royal Caribbean xray machine will pick up bottles of booze; the security will take them; tag them; and you won't have the bottle back until the end of the cruise. They want you to buy their booze; that's how they make a profit.
